John Maynard Keynes

John Maynard Keynes was born in Cambridge, England on June 5, 1883. His mother was a social reformer and his father was an economist who would heavily influence his early economic ideas. Keynes grew up with capitalist beliefs that reflected that of his father, but would start changing radically during his time at King’s College, Cambridge. He developed economic ideas that stressed government intervention during times of recession to help stimulate the economy and challenged long practiced beliefs of classical economics. His philosophy would go on to influence modern fiscal policy around the world in what would be known to us as Keynesian economic theory.
